DC-3 landing -70th anniversary

The first passenger aircraft to land in Lesce was a Yugoslav Air Transport (JAT) DC-3 YU-
ABK. On June 17, 1955, it arrived from Skopje and landed in Lesce precisely at 7 p.m. With

this flight, Bled gained its first air connection with larger cities in the former country and
abroad. The first scheduled route was established: Skopje – Belgrade – Zagreb – Lesce, with
flights every Friday and returns on Saturdays. In 1956, JAT introduced two more regular
routes: Belgrade – Zagreb – Lesce with flights three times a week in both directions, and
Dubrovnik – Lesce – Dubrovnik once a week. These three airline routes operated until the
autumn of 1963, when the airport Brnik was opened.
